Michael Troy is currently a senior Producer with ABC in Sydney on the National and International desk.
He was a familiar face in the 1990s as one of the ABC’s 7pm and Late news presenters and for Australia TV. An ABC Foreign Correspondent in Papua New Guinea, he also worked for the BBC in London and as the ABC’s Science and Environment reporter won the Eureka Science prize in 1999 for a ground-breaking series on coastal development and the Olympics. Michael has also run his own sailing business and is an accomplished yachtsman and went on to work in the corporate sector for several years as a communication expert for the executive team at Westpac.
He was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 in 2004 and has been in full remission for many years and enjoys sharing his experiences with other people who have a mental illness by inviting them for a sail on his yacht “Southwinds”.
